One area of concern for Jody is her lack of success in recruiting locally although that has not hurt her ability to win in the Valley. This is strictly anecdotal but there was an interesting exchange between Bruce Heartl and a caller to his Sports Daily show yesterday morning regarding this issue. So yes, local recruiting may continue to be tough but I am not sure that is critical to Jody. This exchange begins at around 54:00 mark through about the 60:00 minute mark.

Jody probably has some repair work to do locally if she feels the need and desire to recruit Wichita area players. But again I do not know if that is really critical to Jody's success. It has not been to this point.

I agree with Shoxlax that until the time that more facts are made public, our discussions are not likely to change any minds.
And to WuDrWu, I think I can see how you are taking my previous comment. I was trying to be brief, and used really broad strokes to discuss what I feel are abusive AND/OR inappropriate practices which have been alleged to occur. You are absolutely correct in saying that withdrawing study hall hours is not abusive. It just seems to be an inappropriate privilege to take away, if we have our priorities right with student athletes.
As for withholding food, I was referring to the allegation that a player was restricted to just broth after a prolonged workout. Not a total restriction from food, but very close. And to be more precise about restriction from medical evaluation/treatment, JA is said to have used highly intimidating tactics to prevent players from a) seeking medical attention and/or b)following doctors' orders. She has not been accused of forcibly preventing players from those things, to my knowledge.

Maybe he was or maybe he was thankful for that. I have no way of knowing. Recruiting locally is tough in the best of circumstances because most of these local kids have a natural inclination to leave home for school if they can.

That a player was pinned to a wall? Notice also that the player in question was dismissed from the team for repeated violations of University policy.

Do you have documentation regarding Molly O'Brien being dismissed for the reasons you state?

I really don't know but Molly's mother responded to similar allegations on the KSN website in the comments section to the article that included the WSU Statement on this issue and the opinion poll. Here was her response to allegation that Molly was dismissed from the team:

Roberta OBrien • 2 days ago This is a response to A former Butler resident and whoever else is concerned. Molly was NOT suspended for violating team rules. That is only what Jody said to the media to save face. Molly quit, Jody wanted her to stay. It was the middle of the season and it would look bad on Jody to have her quit. I was on a 3 way call with Jody when Molly quit. She said she did not want to play for Jody anymore .... exact words. Jody then told the media she was suspended, the next day she said she quit, we are supposed to assume it was due to the suspension. I called Eric Sexton to correct Jody's statement, asked him for documentation of the suspension to which he replied he had none, he took Jody's word for it. I told him that in an institution such as Wichita State that is hard to believe there is not documentation drawn up and signed. The hospital I work at you have to sign for just a parking ticket. He responded that there is no documentation, he just took her word for it, and we ALL know Jody lies. Just another example of Eric covering for Jody and helping her become the monster she is by not holding her responsible.

Now who is being truthful and who is not I really can't say with any certainty. I'm sure we all have our opinions that probably mirror the results of the KSN opinion poll.

Molly was not dismissed; she quit before being put on suspension. I know because I talked to her after she quit and before her suspension was announced. Even after quitting and before going home, she continued to come to the games and support her teammates. She is a brave and honest young woman---honest to a fault. She admitted drinking a beer rather than lie about it, even though she was underage and it was contrary to the rules. But after she left, she found an opportunity at Academy of Arts in San Francisco where she could be herself without being micromanaged and controlled on and off the court, pursue her dreams and use basketball to pay for her degree. She shared her story with media who reached out to her to support team members, not out of malice.

I know all this to be true firsthand. I didn't have to google old newspaper stories or speculate like Butler County whoever.

The bottom line: We should all be so lucky as to have a daughter, sister or friend like Molly in our lives.

Shocker 72, you need to stand corrected. Looks like the poll is reflecting that a change in the womens program is needed and supported.Were gong to be in a complete rebuilding period might be a good time for consideration.

Interesting shift in the poll results in the past 24 hours or so which I had not noticed. Went from 45-45-10 to around 35-55-10. However, I don't expect anyone will be nor should they be swayed by that poll. Wichita State has placed their confidence in Jody Adams to continue building her program. Next season will no doubt be a major challenge after losing the entire starting lineup and not having much depth behind that returning. Perhaps the poll sends a message that an equal amount of image and trust rebuilding is in order as well as rebuilding the roster.

The poll is completely meaningless. People can vote multiple times. It's not surprising that there has been a shift in the results as the poll is several days old and most people have cast their votes and moved on but those that are trying to make a statement keep voting.

I don't disagree that the poll is unscientific and not particularly useful other then in a very general sense. Their system does limit your vote to 1 time (per computer I think - I assume it registers IP addresses). Still to have a Coach who is coming off the best 3 years in program history in terms of wins and Valley titles to do so poorly in any poll does IMO send a message. It is an opinion poll so making a statement is what it is all about. I am for making ALL the information on this matter public in the most transparent way so that the perhaps opinions would be more meaningful in this matter.

What we don't know is the makeup of those voting. If the 35% are mostly season ticket holders or fans who regularly attend games and the 55% who disagree with the decision are mostly drive-by fans with only a passing interest in the program then yes the poll probably admittedly would not be sending the message it appears to be. Of course, the opposite could be true as well. I would agree that the poll is generally useless, but not necessarily totally meaningless. It does send a very general message IMO. One that I think Jody Adams and the WSU athletic department should at least take to heart regarding the WBB program which is clearly an outlier in this regard in the athletic department.

Okay. My computer settings must be different as I was only allowed to vote only once as I had the same curiosity. So it sounds like if you are computer savvy or happen to have your computer settings just right you could sit at your computer and vote multiple times and that could well be why the numbers changed so much in such a short period of time. In fact, that seems likely to be the case. If that's the case then yes the poll is pretty meaningless. The real poll I suppose will come when season ticket renewal time is here. That's when you will really know if there really is a message to take to heart.

BTW, I am not really expecting a huge decline in season ticket sales. The season ticket base is not particular big either so a 10% decline in absolute numbers is not all that big a deal.

I just tried it, and received a message that I had already voted, so it would not accept another vote from me. So now we have another poll: 75% could not re-vote and 25% could. ;-)
